This website has been designed to collate and disseminate statistics and research relevant to equality of opportunity and its promotion within the Northern Ireland public sector.
The driving force for the website is Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act (1998).This places an onus on all public authorities in carrying out their functions relating to Northern Ireland, to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity between:
persons of different religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status or sexual orientation;
between men and women generally;
between persons with a disability and persons without;
and between persons with dependents and persons without.
This website brings together information from across government and provides a basis for analysis.Its key service is the provision of detailed datasets reflecting a broad range of social and economic circumstances of the Northern Ireland population presented, where possible, by the Section 75 categories outlined above.
Datasets specific to Section 75 categories and policy areas, together with related publications can be accessed via the “equality data” button on the top bar.General publications can be found on the “publications” area of the site.A comprehensive series of relevant links is also provided.
We are keen to receive user feedback on the site and would ask you to send any comments via the “comments” link above.
